Supporting families and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s through compassion, community, and meaningful programs.

Memories of the Heart is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families navigating the journey of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
We understand that memory loss affects more than the individual—it touches families, caregivers, and entire communities. Our work is rooted in compassion, dignity, and the belief that no one should walk this journey alone.
We provide emotional support, community connection, and resources for caregivers and families living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
We raise awareness, reduce stigma, and share information that empowers families and communities.
Through events, fundraisers, and partnerships, we bring people together to support one another and create lasting impact.
Alzheimer’s and dementia affect more than memory—they affect families, relationships, and daily life. Caregivers often feel overwhelmed, isolated, and unseen.
At Memories of the Heart, we honor the past, support the present, and help families find strength for the journey ahead.

A world where families facing Alzheimer’s and dementia feel supported, understood, and empowered—and where every life and memory is honored.

My experience caring for my aunt, who battled a challenging health condition, deeply shaped my passion for senior care. I witnessed her daily struggles and the emotional toll it took on our family, which inspired me to become more involved in supporting both patients and caregivers. Providing care for her taught me compassion, patience, and the importance of dignity in every stage of life.
This experience motivated me to learn more about the condition, contribute to research efforts for prevention and cure, and advocate for better support systems for seniors. I am dedicated to helping reduce the suffering of older adults and easing the burden on families and caregivers who devote themselves to their loved ones’ well-being.
Through my work and continued involvement, I hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and promote awareness, empathy, and improved care within our communities.
Hi, I’m Donnalyn.
My work in supporting people affected by dementia began with my own family’s journey.
My mom was a dedicated school principal and lifelong teacher who spent her life caring for others. When she was first diagnosed with dementia, we believed the changes we were seeing were simply part of aging. Everything changed after my dad—her high school sweetheart—passed away in 2021.
In the months that followed, her dementia progressed rapidly. She began moving through different chapters of her life—her childhood, her college years, her early days as a teacher—and she was often searching for my dad.
As a family, we learned to meet her wherever she believed she was. We shared stories, offered reassurance, and focused on helping her feel safe and loved. The journey was emotional and challenging, yet filled with moments of tenderness and unexpected humor.
My mom passed away in 2022 at the age of 93.
Walking alongside her reshaped my purpose. Today, I am dedicated to helping families navigate dementia with more clarity, compassion, and confidence—offering the kind of understanding and support I wish we had from the very beginning.
If you are caring for someone with dementia, you don’t have to walk this journey alone.
We are here to help.

Through this journey, we came to understand that while dementia may change how memories are held, it never diminishes the love, meaning, or impact of a life. Every person carries a story worth honoring—whether they are living with dementia or remembered with love. Legacy of the Heart was created to preserve those stories, to recognize the lives that shaped us, and to remind families that their loved ones are more than a diagnosis. Each legacy is a reflection of connection, remembrance, and the enduring power of love.
Legacy of the Heart is a tribute program honoring individuals who have lived with or been affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia—whether living or passed.
Each legacy preserves a name, a story, and a love that continues beyond memory. These tributes serve as a lasting reminder that every life matters.
Families are invited to share photos, stories, and memories to honor their loved ones.
